Papier Peint
Sadko Hadzihasanovic
March 10 - April 7, 2001
In Sadko's latest body of work we encounter an edgy mix of pop culture and art-historical references. Humour and banality abound with an emphasis on boyhood masculinity. Papier peint was produced last fall during a three-month residency in Paris, France. Sadko's work can also be viewed at the Harbourfront Centre Case Studios in the group exhibition Rock, Paper, Scissors running from March 9 - April 22.
Since his arrival from Bosnia in 1993, Sadko has participated in over thirty exhibitions in public galleries and artist-run centres across Canada. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo, Bosnia and earned his MFA at the University of Belgrade, Yugoslavia (1984). He is the recipient of grants from the Ontario Arts Council and the Canada Council for the Arts. Papier peint is Sadko's fourth solo exhibition at Paul Petro Contemporary Art.
