So come, my friends, be not afraid
We are so lightly here
It is in love that we are made
In love we disappear
Tho' all the maps of blood and flesh
Are posted on the door
There's no one who has told us yet
What boogie street is for
Leonard Cohen (2001)
The final week of So Lightly Here is dedicated to the memory of Ben Portis, curator, critic, friend, and the casualty of a car accident on July 20, 2017. Such a sudden, painful and deeply saddening loss. The themes in this exhibition couldn't feel more poignant than they do right now.
