Peter Bowyer
September 7 - October 6, 2012
Five
A sample from a body of work that the artist produced in Holland last year. A galvanized steel sculpture, a video loop, and a text piece that emerged from his investigation and research into dimensional boundaries. Later this month, Bowyer's most recent performative sculpture Flat Space will appear at Bay and Queen Street. Commissioned for Toronto's Nuit Blanche, this work will for a single night create an optical and physical interference zone in the downtown core.
Since the 1980's Peter Bowyer's work has combined sculpture, drawing and animated film in spatial installations. His current projects are attempts to understand aspects of higher dimensional space, where one dimension shifts into the next. Over the years he has had solo exhibitions at the Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery, The Toronto Sculpture Garden, The Art Gallery of York University, and elsewhere. This is his fourth solo exhibition at Paul Petro Contemporary Art.
