Bucky and Fluff's Craft Factory
Deliverance From Disaster
Nov 30-Dec 21, 2002
Paul Petro Contemporary Art is pleased to present Toronto-based Bucky & Fluff's Craft Factory's Deliverance From Disaster solo exhibition.
In an environment of fear and pain, Bucky and Fluff look to everyday ephemera as tokens, milagros and charms for protection against the evils of the world. At the same time, while we gather these magical trinkets closer to the hearth, we can't cower in our crappy city apartments waiting for the worst. With x-mas around the corner, and a "world war" looming, B& F hope to minimize the anxiety with works that present an alternative to booze, pills, credit card spending, and other vices used to suppress stress in times of war and consumer madness.
Tear-Jerker Tin Poundings
Framed tin foil renderings
of potential disasters, or chancy situations that could go either way. Each
image has been lovingly pounded into a reflector/deflector of evil.
X-Mas Sucks Advent Calendars
A crying child collage
titled "Toys That Never Work" is super imposed on a real and usable
advent calendar. Every door has been hand crafted with a different message
explaining
why x-mas sucks.
Fight the Power Pinatas
SUV's, cancerous lungs, George
Bush, Patrick Swayze -all things you want to smash from your life in the new
year. Each pinata is filled with art and trinkets hand-selected by Bucky
and Fluff.
Smashed Candy X-mas Tree Decorations
Violent, yet therapeutic smashing
has created these garish wonders.
