FAQ's

i. Is this a real company?

CN Tower Liquidation is a site-specific company designed to operate from July 16th to July 30th 2009 at the Paul Petro Special Projects Gallery located on 962 Queen Street West, Toronto ON. As a joint venture between three local artists, Charlie Murray, Sebastian Butt and Xan Hawes, we aim to provide a service that confronts and confounds value systems associated with nostalgia, 'dead' objects, consumer desire and the archive.

ii. How is my double-seater bike going to fit into a 10' cube?

Though at first it may seem like magic, it's actually quite simple. Your object will go through 3 phases. In the first phase, the CNTL Team will disassemble and order the parts and pieces of your bike according to their material types (ie. metal, plastic, stone). During the 'dematerialization' or second phase, each pile of material will undergo a transformation from their larger parts into ground particulate. Finally, in the third phase, separate piles of ground particulate will be combined with a filler/hardener and placed within one of our signature designer moulds.

iii. How much does it cost?

Our prices are determined by the processing cost of different material types and the size of your designer mould (S,M,L). For example, plastic or fabric is less rigid than titanium; takes less time to transform into ground particulate.

Approx. pricing
Small (2.5"x2.5"x2.5") - $10 to $25
Medium (5"x5"x5") - $25 to $50
Large (10"x10"x10") - $50 to $100

iv. How long before I receive my object in designer form?

1 to 2 weeks.

v. My friend and I both submitted our best friend necklaces for processing into small designer cubes? How will we know which one is ours?

Good Question! Thankfully, all of our forms come with an object specific tag. Each tag includes the following -- Object Description, Date of Processing, Symbolic Value, Market Value and Constituents (% of Filler, % of material type). In this case, we would differentiate each best friend tag using a number. Thus, the object description columns would read 'half heart shape necklaces #1' and 'half heart shape necklace #2', respectively.

vi. When can I drop off my dad's trophy?

From July 1st to the 31st. Please call or e-mail to arrange pick-up and delivery.

We would love to hear them and will promptly reply!
