Corey Comely
Puke and Cry
August 1 - 16, 2009
reception Thursday August 13, 6-11pm
Puke and Cry as cultural transmissions: a way of getting it out. The artist must, as Bataille would urge, take the experience of life and art to the limit. Image as metaphor, painting as a language of mark making-smoke signals that serve as access points to cultural symbolism and that complex connection which is consciousness. Puke and Cry is finding joy in the struggle of life and art. The creative/destructive urge.
Corey Christopher Comely (coco) was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on February 29, 1972. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Art, Honors degree from the University of Western Ontario. Presently he is situated in Toronto.
