Paul Petro Contemporary Art is pleased to present a new installation of photography, painting and sculpture by Eli Langer.

Here are a few words from a larger text by Eli Langer:

"I have used black oil paint to create flat, specular lenses that mirror light and when viewed, do so at specific angles of incidence. The viewer determines the direction the light changes as it leaves the painting. no two views are the same. The paintings demonstrate principles of subjectivity and context. By deferring pictorial interiority for their own objectivity and materialism, they avoid the ideologies of picture painting. This is secular painting.

"The photographs are of pine sap leaking from pine trees. Released from the osmotic pressure inside the tree, the sap flowing outside the tree has changed direction and reveals the presence of forces which can only be seen in the behaviour of actual things.

"The light of lamps is electricity leaking from its circuit. The presence of forces which can only be seen in the behaviour of actual things."
